Week 10 again delivered, with a huge upset for the Bills demonstrating the 'any Sunday can bring surprises' saying that attracts so many fans into the NFL
That result may have opened things up for the Patriots to move back into a top spot they used to occupy, with a remaining games that provides them an edge over their 8-2 rivals
Meanwhile in the National Football Conference the Seattle Seahawks and Rams had perfect results to arrange a monster clash in week 11, while our top performer is chasing records as well as the MVP award
The Breakdown - Just a Bad Day for the Bills?
Was it just an emotional comedown from beating the Chiefs the previous week or something more? That's the question for the Buffalo team to answer
The Buffalo squad had won seven in a consecutive games against Miami but were outperformed from the beginning as the Dolphins ran out 30-13 winners in an eye-opening result - and display
MVP quarterback Josh Allen only achieved the team's opening first down in the third quarter and initial scoring in the final quarter - admittedly the Dolphins had ten days to get ready but it was still a significant failure produced by one of the NFL's best offenses
Dolphins quarterback Tua threw two touchdowns but rusher Achane was the devastating difference, with 225 combined yards and two scores
Containing the league's best running game was also key, with Cook and company registering just 86 yards, their fewest of the season and just over half their 161.5 yard season average
Additionally there were the three critical turnovers, and the two from Allen in particular. An interception in the scoring area resulting in a nine-minute drive yielded no points, and his fourth-quarter fumble that Miami converted to a touchdown just two plays
It was typical 'previous Bills teams' as they shot themselves in the foot, falling into a deficit on defensive side and Allen attempting to do too much to rescue his squad from the situation - not the composed, disciplined, balanced Bills we've witnessed this year
Miami have served up a varied performances this season so the jury's out on if this is the start of something, but for the Bills they'll require an instant response in a tough game against Tampa Bay next week as the Patriots are sneaking into a comfortable advantage at the summit of the American Football Conference East
Spotlight - Patriots See Path to Unexpected First Place
Speaking of the Patriots, they're among three 8-2 teams in the league, all AFC teams, but are they the top team?
One could pick holes in New England, Denver and the Colts actually for dominating the weaker opponents, with only five of their combined twenty-four wins achieved against opponents with a winning record - and one of those was the Colts defeating the Broncos
The Broncos beat the reigning champion Eagles in Philly and are kings of the final quarter while Indy can rely on Jonathan Taylor, but the New England including Sunday's victory in Tampa Bay to their primtime win in Buffalo seems like a statement
Their two defeats came in new head coach Mike Vrabel's initial three games, with seven consecutive wins, just like the Broncos, from that point - but defeating Baker Mayfield after the Bucs had a week off to prepare was significant
Drake Maye's Most Valuable Player credentials won't go away, and he definitely earns point for bravery after taking some savage hits in Tampa but persevering to guide his side to victory
The defense is solid and rookie running back Henderson burst onto the scene on Sunday with 147 yards and two exhilerating touchdowns of fifty-five and sixty-nine yards - establishing himself as just the fifth runner to break 22mph this year on his initial touchdown
While you can argue who 'the best' is technically, the Pats should be favorites to end with the top record thanks to their remaining opponents - which includes just one game against a successful opponent, although a huge one against Buffalo
Traveling to Baltimore is also tough, but Denver have it even tougher in the AFC West division with the Chiefs to play twice, the Los Angeles Chargers (who might also compete for first place but face the identical challenge) and additionally the Packers on the fixture list
The Indianapolis also play the Kansas City, and have the Seattle, San Francisco and two matchups with the five and four Jaguars to contend with. There is a considerable distance to go but the door is available for a shock top seed in the American Football Conference
Next Week - Rams & Seahawks Prepare for Next Week Showdown
Two teams with strong arguments to be better than all of the three eight and two sides are NFC West rivals the Seattle and Los Angeles, who both scored 40 burgers to go to seven and two before next week's major meeting between the pair in Los Angeles
Both have secured four victories in a row, have signal callers in Stafford and Darnold playing at an high standard (although Sam Darnold had ball security problems on game day) with top receivers, and defenses allowing fewer than twenty points a game
Both could realistically be without a loss as too - particularly the Rams as their pair of losses came in extra time against the San Francisco and then that painful defeat in Philadelphia when they had a game-winning kick with the last kick deflected and returned by the Eagles for a touchdown
Seattle were also defeated to the 49ers, with a last-minute score in week one, before falling to the last kick of the game against the Tampa Bay - so they're truly two of the best sides in the league
The next matchup on Sunday could be the best of the year so far
Top Performer - Taylor
Taylor might be on for a historic year after his remarkable performance in Germany - rushing for 244 yards, registering three touchdowns and adding an additional 42 {receiving yards
