From the very beginning of the fourth campaign, new Dungeon Master the talented storyteller has kept fans guessing with extensive world-building, a wide array of characters, and a thrilling plot showcasing celestial beings, demons, and malevolent powers expanding in influence within the city.
Warning: Key plot points for the latest installment of Campaign 4 lie ahead.
The Soldiers Table Introduced
Episode 3 concluded with a huge suspense moment and introduced the premier party of adventurers who will branch out from the primary party to embark on their independent quest, separate from the remaining groups.
The Soldiers table features the determined fighter (portrayed by Travis Willingham), the agile character (the talented performer), the strong-willed figure (Whitney Moore), Wicander Halovar (Sam Riegel), and Kattigan Vale (Robbie).
Why Split the Party?
Given an extensive roster, it was obvious from the beginning that having everyone at a single group would be unfeasible.
This explains, the first four episodes of Campaign 4 serve as an Introduction, connecting the individual narratives before branching into three separate parties: Fighters, Schemers, and Questers.
What Defines the Combat Party
Per Brennan Lee Mulligan, the combat-focused party is for players who enjoy a typically action-packed combat and conflict-driven gameplay experience where diplomatic options are few and far between.
Upon first impression, figures such as the squeamish cleric the cleric might seem mismatched, but the actions of the third episode make it clear why these particular heroes are ideally matched for the warrior group.
Motivations for Departure
For one thing, the party understands precisely where to proceed after a violent initial meeting with the antagonists.
An old friend of Thjazi—whose death kicked off the narrative’s action—exploited the enemy for his own means, entering the secret base, attacking Thimble, and swiping all the powerful objects to auction.
Casimir then paid off his obligations and ran away to a Halovar stronghouse in the remote area, north of Dol-Makjar, with Cyd hot on his heels.
Character Drivers
Additionally, each member has a personal reason to depart the metropolitan area:
- Thimble, as Thjazi’s partner and best friend, desires vengeance.
- The adventurer knows the region and advises that it is a nasty environment.
- The warrior and Wicander, having resisted his house’s orders to eliminate Teor and instead rescued him, have no safe haven.
- But, their reputation as key figures in the influential clan could help the group access areas they typically wouldn’t be able to.
- Furthermore, The grateful character vowed a life debt to Wicander for his salvation and will now go with him anywhere.
Wanted and Hunted
Lastly, all of them are hunted by the powers that rule the setting for a multiple motives, making staying in the city no longer safe:
- The agile adventurer and The character are known criminals.
- Tyranny and The cleric betrayed the influential house and the legion of demons they are partnered with.
- The target is marked for death by the family.
This means them few options but to journey toward Timmony in quest for the antagonist.
Upcoming Developments
From the recent installment’s follow-up content, we discover that the warrior group won’t be around next week, leaving the remaining eight players to form the Explorers and Strategists tables.
