The Manager's Stance on Celtic

The Ipswich boss described the Glasgow giants as "a really big soccer institution" but emphasized he is "deeply involved" of a "extensive rebuilding" with the Championship side.

The 39-year-old took charge of Portman Road in recent years and guided the team to the Premier League with consecutive elevations, but they managed only a handful of victories last season as they were demoted back to the Championship and they presently occupy twelfth place in the Championship.

"I have not had any of those conversations," the London-born former Northern Ireland young player said when asked about being on Celtic's shortlist.

"It's not something I have considered seriously, or where any portion of my concentration is this week.

"I have a unique position here at a special team. And we're at a crucial stage of the season. Everything external hasn't reached my radar."

Context and Agreement Details

It has been suggested that McKenna would be open to speaking to Celtic given his childhood support.

"Growing up, we all have our preferences," he said when asked about these. "It's unlikely everyone has to publicly and declare what they used to be, but naturally it's a really big football club."

McKenna agreed to a new four-year contract in 2024 and was asked about his alleged £5m release clause.

"In every manager's contract, there are provisions," he replied. "I'm unaware what my specific terms are and, were I informed, I wouldn't disclose you regardless!

"I approach this job like I will remain Town's coach forever. I know that's not invariably going to be the case, but I'll always do my best as while I remain in position."

Bellamy's Situation

Bellamy represented the Hoops on loan from Newcastle United in the mid-2000s, but the ex- Welsh striker is minded to complete the current World Cup campaign, a stance that would practically eliminate the mid-forties from assuming the Celtic job.

The Welsh squad are currently third in their qualifying group behind leaders Belgium and runners-up North Macedonia.

Victories over the minnows and their rivals in November would secure their position in the final qualifying round, but they are all but assured of reaching that stage, thanks to a successful European competition performance, even if they fail to finish as their group second place.

Considering his present stance, Bellamy, whose contract concludes after Euro 2028, would not be available until following the qualifying matches at the minimum.
