Six Individuals Detained Following 12 Million Euro Armed Raid on Gold Processing Laboratory in the French Republic

A team of six suspects carrying high-powered firearms detonated charges to force entry into a gold refining laboratory located in Lyon, slightly injuring five workers during what is being called the newest significant broad daylight robbery to hit the country.

The daring raid occurred on the afternoon of Thursday, with law enforcement authorities quickly arresting the individuals believed responsible and securing the stolen items assessed at around €12M (10.5 million pounds), officials reported.

Five staff members of Laboratoires Pourquery were slightly hurt from the blast, and three employees were transported to hospital for examination, officials confirmed. Twenty-eight workers were present on-site when the perpetrators raided.

The suspects, believed to be experienced criminals, were taken into custody soon afterwards in the nearby town of Vénissieux, France, a source close to the investigation stated.

A female participant who took part in the raid was likewise arrested, according to law enforcement.

“Six people who utilized explosives in a raid against a metals processing plant in Lyon were arrested at the scene,” the nation's interior minister declared on social media, lauding police for their “quick action, authority and management”.

Assault rifles, handguns and explosives were likewise seized.

The robbery occurred as French police on the same day detained five further people, including a primary suspect, in connection with the bold Louvre museum robbery.

Dozens of investigators have been searching for four thieves who used a vehicle featuring an elevating platform and cutting equipment to break into an upper-level exhibition space at the renowned museum on October 19th, escaping with ornaments assessed at around €88 million.

In another notable incident, robbers the previous month broke into the Natural History Museum in Paris, taking gold specimens worth over $1 million. A young Chinese female was arrested earlier this month in Barcelona, Spain in connection with the break-in, according to legal authorities.

The string of thefts has sparked worry in the country regarding lax security at cultural venues and other facilities holding high-value objects.
