Slot Asserts He Feels Secure and Retains The Club's Backing After PSV Defeat

Arne Slot acknowledged that it was natural for doubts to be raised about his position after another convincing loss versus PSV Eindhoven.

The Reds endured their ninth defeat in twelve games, marking the team's poorest streak after being demoted in 1953-54.

They were dominated by the Dutch league title holders on a punishing night at Anfield.

“I'm confident, I'm fine, I have got a lot of backing from management,” Slot remarked.

“It's important to reverse this trend and earn three points obviously but when you're working as a coach and underperforming then it is normal that people question you.”

He noted, “I accept my role. This isn't the initial instance I’ve been in a difficult position but it is about time that we improved our results.”

Discussions with Liverpool Hierarchy

When asked to expand on his discussions with the team officials, Slot revealed:

“We talk a lot. They are supportive to the team and for me and those talks happen but they aren't calling me constantly of the day to say they have faith in me.”

He added, “In the normal exchanges I feel the confidence. But I've not talked to them since this defeat yet so we'll see.”

Recurring Problems and Squad Response

Slot expressed regret over recurring weaknesses from his squad in their European loss, specifically missed opportunities and defensive lapses.

Meanwhile, player Jones was blunter in his assessment of the current crisis.

“I don’t have the solutions. Frankly, I don’t. I'm telling that to everybody,” Jones stated.

“It's simply unacceptable. I don’t even need to wait to think about it. I'm beyond feeling anger inside. I’m at the point currently where I simply lack the words.”

He went on, “It’s hard because I’m playing for the team I support. I’m a fan, and I've watched Liverpool for years.”

“For many years, I've not seen a Reds side going through a spell such as this with outcomes so bad.”

Jones concluded, “However we continue to wear the emblem on our shirts. And as long as that badge is gone, we'll continue to fight.”

“We will attempt to bring this squad return to its rightful place, prove again the values of this club and the reason it's called the best team in the world.”

“At this moment, things are bad and it must improve.”
