Soccer Expert Chris Sutton Battles Singer Olly Murs in Top Flight Predictions
Arsenal's ten-match victorious streak came to an end by Sunderland before the global hiatus, but can the English top division leaders bounce back against north London rivals Tottenham this Sunday?
"{I believe like Arsenal are miles ahead of Tottenham at the moment but Spurs manager Thomas Frank will have a strategy for this game," stated soccer specialist Chris Sutton.
"Frank will try to nullify Arsenal, who have not always been at their scintillating finest this campaign - but Mikel Arteta's side typically still manage to win."
Sutton is making predictions for all 380 Premier League games this season, versus AI, readers and a variety of guests.
In week 12, he takes on singer Olly Murs, who is a United supporter.
The singer's latest record, the new release, is out on Friday.
Football and Parenting Life
Murs is a talented soccer player as well as a successful singer and has been a featured player of multiple Soccer Aid games down the years - but he is not planning a professional return as a footballer.
"{I recently played in a benefit game the other night for a friend of mine," he said. "My team was trailing 3-1 when I came off in the 60th minute, and they proceeded to win 4-3, so you can interpret that what you will!
"I continue to love football, but I injured my knee a few years ago and it even now isn't where I want it to be. I wish I could play more but the unpredictability of the sport means it's too risky for me in my career to do it properly again.
"Plus I am forty-one now, and we are not everyone is Cristiano Ronaldo, are we!? No, I am very happy not playing football and I am gearing up for the time that my child or boy chooses to play instead."
The singer and his wife Amelia Tank have a young family, Madison and their son, and he is ready to emulate his dad by becoming their manager.
"I won't push football on our kids but I've already told my wife that if they happen to get the passion for it then I will have to go and get my coaching badges - and I will likely be coaching their weekend soccer side," he added.
"I watched my nephews play a lot, and I truly got into it, and I obviously was involved with a soccer team for a while too.
"My dad coached with us when I was a child, which is probably where I inherited it. He managed our team for several years and had great fun with it. That could be the next step for me as well, and I am looking forward to it!"
Premier League Forecasts
Saturday, 22 November
- Turf Moor, 12:30 GMT
The Blues might have to wait a bit longer for Cole Palmer's return from injury but their attack is already more potent with Joao Pedro and Liam Delap both back fit.
In my opinion this fixture will be fairly tight, however. Burnley are disciplined and their only at Turf Moor losses so far have been against the Reds and the Gunners.
This suggests a 1-1 tie to me, but I am actually going to go with Chelsea to win narrowly for what would be their third league win in a row.
The expert's forecast: 1-2
Olly's pick: Chelsea will be too strong. 1-3
AI's outlook: 0-2
- Vitality Stadium, 15:00 GMT
Bournemouth have been defeated in their previous couple matches - albeit both of them were away - but they got absolutely spanked by Villa last time out which surprised me.
On the other hand, the Hammers secured two in a row before the international break and, although both of those fixtures were at home, they appear strong again.
The Hammers' sole on the road victory this season came at Forest in August, when West Ham manager Nuno was previously Forest manager.
Therefore, what exactly do I go with here - will it be West Ham extending their run under their manager, or the home side responding?
I will go with the Cherries, because I believe what happened against Aston Villa was a blip.
Sutton's prediction: 2-0
Olly's prediction: Bournemouth are performing strongly but West Ham have improved under Nuno. 2-2
The algorithm's prediction: 1-1
- Amex Stadium, 15:00 GMT
The Bees were seen as one of the frontrunners for relegation before the season began, but they have surprised a several people under Keith Andrews and are in good form with three in their last four games.
A family member advised me to select Brentford striker Igor Thiago in my fantasy soccer squad a few weeks back and, guess what, I ignored the advice.
Thiago will likely find the net again on the weekend but I am still not going to select him or support Brentford at Amex Stadium.
The Bees have not had great fortune on the road this term, and the Seagulls are consistently decent at their stadium. The visitors will attempt to attack on the counter-attack but I feel Fabian Hurzeler's team carry much more of a danger.
Sutton's forecast: 2-1
The singer's view: It could be one of those games where you think there is going to be a lot of goals but it in reality turns out to be quite tight. 1-1
The computer's outcome: 2-1
- Craven Cottage, 15:00 GMT
It is a massive fixture for Fulham, who have lost five of their last six games.
Fulham have got plenty of quality in their team but it still seems like they could be dragged into a relegation fight.
Regarding the Black Cats, indeed they are the unexpected success of the top flight campaign so far.
The away side's performance in the two-all tie with Arsenal last time out was excellent. We have not seen anyone else disrupt the North London side like that this term, and they were fully competitive for them.
The sensible thing to do to support the Black Cats here, because they are clearly capable of roughing Fulham up too and, the previous occasion they were in this part of London, they beat Chelsea at the close of last month.
However I am not going to do that. Rather, I truly need to carry on going against Sunderland with my predictions. I am claiming a lot of credit for their positive outcomes because they evidently love to prove me wrong.
Considering the home side's home record, the sole team they have been defeated by is the league leaders. Marco Silva's side will be extremely eager for a good outcome, so I am going to predict they will pick up three much-needed points.
Sutton's prediction: 1-0
The guest's prediction: I'm aware Sunderland are performing strongly and also that the hosts are on a bad run... but they have nonetheless been decent at home this season. 2-0
AI's outlook: 2-0
- Anfield, 15:00 GMT
It is a tough one to predict. Liverpool have suffered seven of their past 10 matches in every tournament, but could they be among the teams who profit from the {international break|
