A campaign is aiming to launch a traditional song from Palestine to the peak of the festive singles chart. The campaign aims to provide aid to Gaza's residents while also showcasing Palestinian artistic heritage.

An Opportunity for Solidarity and an "Unlikely Coup"

Renowned figure Brian Eno, who performs on the track, stated that the song titled Lullaby represents a moment to support Palestinians this festive season. He noted the potential for an surprise number one.

“It would be fantastic if that came to pass, yes,” he said. “I wouldn't be completely disappointed if it doesn’t, Christmas singles are a unique phenomenon.”

Resilient Spirit of Self-Determination

Palestinian singer Nai Barghouti, who features in the reimagining of a folk song called Yamma Mwel El Hawa, explained the song's resilient spirit.

“It occupies a deeply meaningful spot for countless listeners,” Barghouti shared. “The essence is that I would rather die in dignity than spend my life without freedom. That’s the main theme of the song; we seek to lead a life of dignity that we are entitled to as Palestinians.”

Recording Origins and Featured Artists

The song was recorded following a large-scale benefit event held in September. Initially planned to be captured during the live event, the piece was shelved during the concert due to time constraints.

The notable list of artists appearing on Lullaby encompasses a group of well-known figures from the music world. All were part of the earlier concert, which reportedly raised a considerable total for relief efforts.

Production and Release

Lullaby was brought to life by a group of producers and composers. The song features a combination of the traditional Arabic lyrics with freshly written English words.

The team running the campaign have stated that their goal is to raise as much as possible for a charitable pot. These donations will be allocated to projects in Palestine through an partnering humanitarian organization.

“There is no a fixed goal,” a figure commented. “We aim for whatever we can get. Naturally, the greater the amount, the better. Every penny goes out to Gaza.”

The context in the territory was characterized as its widespread damage, with a huge proportion of buildings said to be in ruins or severely impacted.

“Given that reality, a handful of millions is unlikely to make that much difference. But I think what truly matters is above all raising awareness for this issue and showing that another narrative exists.”

The single 'Lullaby' is scheduled for release on Friday. Additionally, a video of the benefit event will be made accessible to view on a major video platform from mid-December.
